Getting Started: Your First (Side)Quest
Claim a handle, hop in voice, find your first detour. Everything you need to survive the first evening without touching the main quest.
Welcome to the Fort
If you found this guide, you already found the best part: a corner of the internet where the main quest is optional. The goal of the first evening is not to beat anything — it's to get a handle, get into voice, and take one tiny detour with someone. That's it.
- — You don't need to know the game, or any game.
- — Nobody keeps score in your first week.
- — If you leave having finished zero quests but made one friend, the night was a win.
Claim Your Handle
Your handle is your only public identity here. There's no email, no password, no profile-mining — just a name you pick.
- 1. Sign in with Discord or Google (OAuth is coming — see the SAMPLE note below).
- 2. Pick a handle that's yours. Letters, numbers, underscore, dash, 3–20 characters.
- 3. Keep it cozy: 'sidequest_shaman' beats 'xX_MLG_Destroyer_Xx' for the vibe.
- 4. No profanity — this is a comfy fort, not a spawn room.
Your First-Evening Checklist
Tick these off as you go — your progress sticks for the session (and across reloads in this demo, thanks to local state).
- Claimed a handle
- Read the code of conduct (30 seconds, worth it)
- Joined voice on a game night
- Intro'd in #cozy-corner
- Played one co-op detour with someone
- Asked one 'no-gatekeeping' question
The 'Don't Touch the Main Quest' Rule
This is a community rule, not a game rule. We celebrate the detours — the rabbit holes, the side paths, the 'ten more minutes'. You are under no obligation to be efficient or to finish anything.
Sidequests are our main quest. — every founder, at least once a week
- — Sweat is welcome; gatekeeping is not.
- — If you don't know something, ask. Someone will be thrilled to explain.
- — The detours are the point. Never apologise for one.
